One semester. A different way to learn.

Step away.
Come back
changed.

Spend a semester at NuVu turning ideas into real work—then bring new confidence, creative momentum, and a stronger sense of self back to your home school.

A chapter, not a detour

You don’t have to change schools to change how school feels.

Sometimes a student needs a new environment, a new kind of challenge, or simply the chance to be seen differently.

A semester at NuVu creates that opening. Students join our Cambridge studio, work side by side with coaches and peers, and take on the full NuVu experience—without making a four-year commitment.

What happens in a semester

Enough time
to go deep.

Not a sampler. Not a pause from learning. A complete, immersive stretch of school built around projects that matter.

01–03

Find your footing

Meet your coaches and collaborators. Learn the studio rhythm. Turn a question you care about into something you can begin to test.

04–09

Build momentum

Research, prototype, get critique, and try again. Take on unfamiliar tools and discover how much you can learn by making.

10–16

Make it yours

Complete ambitious work, tell the story of your process, and leave with a portfolio—and a clearer sense of what you can do next.

Who comes for a semester?

Students ready
for a shift.

01

The curious builder

You learn best when you can touch, test, question, and create—not only listen and repeat.

02

The student in a rut

You want to rediscover your energy for learning in a place where difference is useful.

03

The independent thinker

You have ideas of your own and want the space, tools, and coaching to take them seriously.

04

The ready-to-stretch student

You want a real challenge: collaboration, ambiguity, public critique, and meaningful responsibility.

What students take back

The semester ends.
The momentum doesn’t.

Students return to their home communities with finished work, new ways to collaborate, more comfort with uncertainty, and the confidence to shape their own learning.

The practical questions

01

How does it fit with my school?

NuVu works with families and home schools to understand academic goals and make the transition into—and back from—the semester thoughtful.

02

Will I be part of the community?

Yes. Semester students join studios, critiques, exhibitions, lunch, and community life. You are a NuVu student from day one.

03

What will I have to show for it?

You leave with documented projects, reflections, presentations, and evidence of how your ideas developed—not just a final product.
