Our mission

NuVu is a project-based school that empowers students to become innovative problem-solvers and empathetic leaders.

Through hands-on design studios, students combine art, design, engineering, and technology to investigate complex questions, develop original ideas, and create work that has meaning beyond the classroom.

Meaningful problems inspire meaningful learning

Students become deeply engaged when their work connects to real questions, real people, and real possibilities. We create opportunities for students to investigate challenges they care about and understand why their ideas matter.

Curiosity grows through different perspectives

Better ideas emerge when we seek out unfamiliar viewpoints and remain open to changing our minds. We encourage students to ask questions, listen carefully, and approach uncertainty with curiosity.

Students should have agency in their learning

Young people thrive when they have meaningful ownership of their education. With support from coaches and advisors, students set goals, make decisions, reflect on their progress, and develop a clearer understanding of themselves as learners.

Collaboration makes ambitious work possible

Complex problems are rarely solved alone. Students learn to contribute their strengths, communicate across differences, give and receive feedback, and build on the ideas of others.

01 / Art

Notice, question, communicate.

Art helps students notice more, ask better questions, and communicate ideas that cannot always be expressed through words alone. Students experiment with materials, form, narrative, and visual language as they develop their own perspectives and share them with others.

02 / Design

Turn curiosity into purposeful action.

Design gives students a process for researching people and contexts, defining problems, generating possibilities, testing ideas, and responding to feedback. Strong solutions begin with empathy and evolve through iteration.

03 / Engineering

Make ideas work in the world.

Engineering helps students translate ideas into working systems and tangible solutions. Students build, test, analyze, and refine their work—learning to balance imagination with precision and persistence.

04 / Technology

Expand what is possible—responsibly.

Technology expands what students can investigate, create, and communicate. Students explore emerging tools while considering how those tools affect people and communities. The goal is thoughtful and responsible use, not simply technical proficiency.
