In this studio, students were tasked with creating an art installation for Kelvinside School in Scotland. They began in three groups, each developing a different concept. After a few days, they came together to combine their ideas. All three groups had explored the theme of connecting people, so they made that the project’s central goal.
Their installation creates a relaxing, welcoming space where students can interact. A field of bamboo “reeds” will stand at the heart of the school. Bamboo is lightweight, durable, and cost-effective. Each reed is attached to a self-righting concrete base, allowing students to move through the installation and gently push the reeds aside without knocking them over.
