NuVuX welcomes students in grades 6-12—from across the country and the globe—to their 2nd annual Student Summit April 11-13, 2025.

Hosted at NuVu High School’s cutting-edge design studio in Cambridge, MA, the Summit brings together partner schools—including those from Saudi Arabia and Colombia—for immersive workshops and hands-on studio experiences that enhance creativity and design skills.

Kate James, Head of Product Experience at NuVuX, reflects on last year’s inaugural event: 'We saw students from different schools collaborating and creating incredible projects. This year we're very excited to expand the summit from just New England schools to our entire worldwide network.”

The student-facing summit was originally created so that students in the NuVuX network could meet in person to exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, and foster a sense of community. The Summit celebrates excellent work from the students, and builds opportunities for networking and personal development.

Each NuVuX partner school selects up to four students currently or previously enrolled in a NuVuX studio experience during the 2024-25 academic year to attend. Additionally, four NuVu High School students will serve as interns, assisting coaches throughout the weekend. “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to share their expertise in the design studio model and connect with peers from over a dozen schools,' says Jon Turnquist, Dean of Students at NuVu High School.

Summit highlights include an intensive design sprint, inspiring student showcases, hands-on skill labs, and exciting local excursions. James elaborates on this year's design sprint theme: “Kid First Central Square will focus on designing interventions that make urban spaces more kid-friendly, inviting, and interactive.”

The event is sponsored by NuVuX, the sister organization to NuVu High School. NuVuX empowers educators by immersing them in project-based learning. Through hands-on design studios modeled after NuVu High School’s approach, NuVuX equips teachers with innovative strategies to integrate real-world, creative learning into their classrooms.

As James explains, one of the best things about being a NuVuX partner is how it connects schools in a deep, worldwide network. “The Summit gives some of these partner school students the chance to share perspectives and connect with each other.”
